We present the dental microscope of the prestigious international company Carl Zeiss, with which we'll look into the inside of tooth roots. To what end? There are several reasons. The microscope enables us to detect even the smallest dental problems that are invisible to the naked eye, for instance, when using only a mouth mirror. Moreover, it significantly increases diagnostic capabilities, which results in the achievement of a better therapeutic effect. Procedures performed using the microscope are far more precise. They allow to keep healthy tissues of a tooth intact. Working under high magnification also improves safety due to small invasiveness, and tissue healing takes place much faster. Due to the magnification of the microscope, many procedures can be performed with high effectivity that, without an eye armed with such a device, seem to be almost impossible or difficult to perform. These include:
- filling root canals,
- checking the cleanliness of the canal preparation,
- finding orifices of root canals,
- locating accessory canals,
- preparation of root canal isthmi (RCI),
- management of pulp chamber and/or root floor perforation.
The microscope is also used in different fields of dentistry other than endodontics (root canal treatment):
- in conservative dentistry, where it is used to remove decay and fill cavities,
- in prosthodontics, where it enables preparation of roots for inlays, the performance of micro-dissection for veneers and checking the restorations' tightness,
- in dental surgery, it provides the possibility of treatment with the use of microtools and fine sutures,
- in diagnostics, it enables to detect foci of initial caries, checking any possible leakiness of fillings, lesions or enamel microcracks,
- in dental cleaning, it improves the accuracy of the performed procedures.
