Invisalign invisible braces: Comfort and aesthetics in one

A beautiful smile is the dream of many people. However, the natural arrangement of teeth does not always meet our expectations and fulfills its function properly. Thanks to modern achievements in the field of orthodontics, we can correct our dental beauty in a discreet and convenient way. One of the most popular solutions on the market are Invisalign braces, which offer many advantages compared to traditional braces.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic system based on overlaysv(called aligners) made of transparent, medical plastic – the company’s patented Smarttrack material. Thanks to the innovative technology, the overlays on the teeth are almost invisible, which makes orthodontic therapy much more aesthetic. Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces, such as metal brackets or ceramic braces.

Malocclusion

The Invisalign system allows for the treatment of many types of malocclusion, from less to more complicated, not only in adult patients. Thanks to the treatment with Invisalign orthodontic aligners, our specialists are able to treat the following malocclusions:

  • Increased overjet – the upper front teeth close before the lower teeth
  • Underbite – the lower teeth protrude in front of the upper ones
  • Crossbite – misalignment of the upper jaw to the lower jaw
  • Spacing – too much space between the teeth
  • Open bite – the upper teeth do not touch the lower teeth during biting
  • Crowding – too small space for the correct arrangement of teeth, which leads to their rotation or change of place in the dental arch
  • Mixed dentition – when erupting permanent teeth have too small space in the dental arch
  • Aesthetics – rotations or tilts of individual teeth in the arch

How does Invisalign work?

The Invisalign treatment process begins with a visit to one of our dentists specializing in orthodontics. During the first orthodontic consultation at Warsaw Dental Academy, the doctor will assess the condition of our bite, take intraoral photos with a camera and provide additional diagnostics in our office – pantomographic and cephalometric photos. An essential element is to perform an intraoral scan to obtain an accurate mapping of the dental arches and bite. After full diagnostics, based on the collected data, our specialist will select the appropriate treatment plan tailored to the patient’s malocclusion.

According to the proposed treatment plan, Invisalign laboratory specialists perform a series of trays on the teeth, which will gradually move them towards the intended position. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks, after which it is replaced with the next aligner in the series, and as therapy progresses, the teeth gradually reach the desired position.

The release of the first series of overlays is preceded by a visit to our office, during which the orthodontist will install a special system, the so-called attachments. These are small portions of light-curing material applied to our teeth, on which the Invisalign overlays placed on the arches will be based. They are completely non-invasive and do not require tooth preparation – i.e. collecting healthy enamel – and their adhesion is based on chemical action. After the treatment with trays, the attachments are removed from the surface of the teeth and no trace is left behind.

Each of the overlays is specially and individually designed so as to exert appropriate forces on a given surface of a specific tooth in the arch, causing its completely painless movement to the target position.

During treatment, it may be necessary to wear additional active elements on Invisalign aligners – orthodontic tractions. Placed between the upper and lower dental arches, they are a source of force that allows the teeth to move, and their task is to move individual teeth or their groups to the expected place and adjust the upper arch to the lower one.

Regular check-ups with a specialist

For the treatment to be effective, regular visits to the orthodontist are necessary, during which he will be able to assess the progress of the treatment by checking whether the teeth move as planned. They usually take place in periods of 1-2 months, during which the doctor gives the patient subsequent sets of overlays, takes intraoral photos with a digital camera and intraoral scans with the iTero system, which will be used to make subsequent overlays as the teeth move to their final position. These visits are free – their cost is included in the total cost of treatment with Invisalign aligners.

How long does the treatment last?

Invisalign clear aligners can help correct both minor and complex dental abnormalities. The length of treatment can last 12-18 months on average, but it is decided by the doctor depending on how complicated the case is. Most patients feel a difference after three months of wearing Invisalign aligners, and results are usually noticeable after six months. However, it should be remembered that each case is individual and may require a different treatment time. Its duration is also influenced by factors such as age, regenerative abilities of the body or meticulousness and conscientiousness in wearing overlays.

Retention

After orthodontic treatment, it is necessary to apply retention, which is designed to prevent the process of moving the teeth into their previously chosen positions. The type of retention depends on the doctor’s decision and can be a specially fitted transparent overlay on the Vivera teeth of the Invisalign system, a retention plate or a dental arch.

What is the cost of Invisalign treatment?

The cost of the proposed treatment is determined individually. It mainly depends on factors such as the type of malocclusion and its severity, the duration of treatment or the system chosen by the doctor according to the defect. The cost of the proposed treatment is comprehensive and includes, among others:

  • Treatment plan and its computer simulation,
  • Setting up attachments,
  • The system of overlays issued in sets, each for two weeks,
  • Follow-up visits.

At Warsaw Dental Academy, we offer our patients the option of paying for treatment in installments to make it more affordable, and treatment prices start at PLN 15,000.

 The main advantages of Invisalign

  1. Aesthetics: Invisalign is a perfectsolution for people who prefer to hide the process of orthodontic treatment. The overlays are practically invisible, which allows you to maintain the natural appearance of the smile.
  2. Comfort: Invisalign aligners are made of a smooth and flexible material, which means that they are much less irritating to the oral tissues than traditional braces. There are also no metal elements that could cause abrasions or irritation.
  3. Easy to clean: Invisalign can be removed for eating and brushing, making it easier to maintain oral hygiene during treatment. The aligners can also be easily cleaned with a toothbrush.
  4. Precision: Thanks to advanced computer technology, Invisalign ensures precise tooth movement, which translates into the effectiveness of therapy. The doctor can also visualize the patient before and after the therapy, showing the expected results.
